GOS ,and a Giveaway

I stitched the GOS challenge in the hope it would bring my stitchy bug back home . It helped a little bit , but not enough .
I was going to make a floss tag , but it seemed too obvious , so I hummed and haahed a bit before deciding to combine the challenge with a little giveaway.
As today is our wedding anniversary , I'm going to give away this floss bag , and fill it with 8 skeins of red floss , one for each year we've been married , so I'll also give you eight days to enter.
Leave a comment on this post before noon on 19th May if you'd like a chance to win , and I'll choose a winner , simple as that.
I stitched it on some even weave that was lying around, using DMC 321 and made a little bag. As I had the sewing machine out , I also finished off the prizes from my last competition (sorry for the delay ladies) , so they will be in the post this week.
Close up of the stitching.
My little bug has been visiting the last few days , but I'm doing secret stitching , so the reveal won't be for a while.
Thanks for dropping by,
Cath

Fan-fare

It's time for the GOS challenge again. I didn't do the last one , as the chart didn't inspire any creativity in me at all.
As soon as I saw this one , it shouted out to me and I knew exactly what I wanted to do.
The chart is of three little flowers , which had to be embellished in the center , any way you chose , and the rest as they say ,was up to you. I looked at the chart and immediately thought "fan" , in red white and black. Originally I was going to do a hanging ornament ,which swiftly became two hanging ornaments and then changed completely to a needle book and fob lol.
The front and back of the needle book . I did the front in two strands , and the back in one strand .
The needle book opened out. The felt pages are actually red , but I just caught a bit of sunshine this morning when taking the pictures .
This is the back of the fob. Again I used two strands for the front and one for the back.
I used DMC 310 and 666 , and some scraps of aida from my stash , I think it's 16 count .
The fabric they are on is what I used for the inside of the book.

So , there you have it. The finishing is not perfect , but it's the first time I've done anything like this , and I'm quite pleased as they turned out pretty much as I'd hoped. It took a lot of time yesterday to do the finishing , then a mad dash to the local outlet mid afternoon , as I hadn't got any red felt , just blue and green LOL , but got there in the end.

Thanks for dropping by ,

Cath

GOS challenge ,Orts and Eggs

Over at The Gift of Stitching , they are hosting a regular challenge where they provide a chart for you to stitch and make up your own way. All you then need to do is post pics on your blog , send them the details and you're entered in the draw for a great prize . I discovered this very close to the deadline for the second one, so didn't get to do it , but I've decided to join in this time. Go to http://giftofstitching.blogspot.com/for full details.
This time , the chart is of a Too Big bird on a house , really cute. I made mine into this little beaded fobThis side is with the threads as recommended on the chart , and this side I've done with vari threads ( you have a lot to answer for Shellie , lol) . So , this is my entry . If you're interested in joining in , the deadline is 11th February. I made this in a day , so still plenty of time.
So , onto the orts . I've done a bit of stitching since last time , mostly the vari stuff , so lots of bits and bobs in the pot now.
Lastly, the eggs . Our chooks have a habit of laying very different sized (and coloured) eggs , to say they're all supposedly the same breed, age etc. We are used to seeing regular , large and wincing sizes , but I got a real surprise yesterday . I went to check the coop , and found a mini egg in there. The middle one is a regular size , the one on the left fairly large , and then we get this tiny one. It's so cute.

We had a sprinkling of snow again last night , so the chooks have been eating it again this morning. Porridge for them later to help them keep warm.

Thanks everyone for the comments , and thanks for dropping by.

Take care , Cath
