Stitching and gifts .

Well , I finished the LQ a/c square , and here it is . It is one of four designs from a magazine , intended to make a cushion cover , but works out quite well for a square .
Then I moved onto this one , intended to be another a/c square , but I ended up getting a sign up with it. Superheroes are so popular with the kids that the stitchers tend to get a little bored of them , so the quilts take a while longer to get filled .
And then this one as a sign up as well , superheroes again ,lol. This is the second time stitching this chart , and probably not the last . I was intending to do this in a couple of months , but with it being half term needed something fairly easy to be able to pick up when I got chance so this worked out fine.
I have one more sign up to do , which I'm hoping will be a quick stitch but I'm so tired I can't see straight so you never know .

I was very lucky and crazily happy to receive two RAKs in the recent HAED sale , so excited.
This one has only recently been added to my wish list , but I've seen someone stitching it on the HAED FB page and it is gorgeous .
And someone has completed this one too , so cute.
Well that's all for now , hope to be back soon but have got a teachers gift to chart and stitch which may take some time , till then ...
 Thanks for dropping by ,

No stitching

Been very busy , so no stitching to show this time round . Lots of shopping and sorting (though a lot of it has been done on-line this year), organising and running around.
Thanks to my lovely daughter , over the last week I have made nine scarves in four days. I love it when she has these bright ideas for presents ,lol.
The pink and black ones are for my daughters' teacher and TA respectively , the two purple ones are for two of her friends .
  For two more friends
 For sons' teacher and TA
And of course ,while I was making them , my daughter herself had to get in on the act.
These ones were fab to make and only took about an hour , the others took longer.

I will be glad to get back to my stitching as soon as I can , though not sure when that will be , lots more going off in the coming week, and next week will be even busier.
Thanks for checking in ,
Cath

Errrm

Well , time is flying again. soon be the end of the summer holidays for the kiddos . Part of me is relieved ,another part is sad to see the end of a mostly fun time.

I kind of disappeared for a while , for a couple of reasons. I was stitching on a secret project which I was not really enjoying so it took quite a bit longer than it should have. So, no stitching to show. Then , we booked a last minute holiday to the coast , so I was frantically trying to get things washed and dried ready to pack , getting the kids and animals sorted and also getting things ready for hubby as he was at work. The new job is going quite well ,thanks to everyone who has asked.

Anyway , Saturday we got back from our break and we had a great time , but I'll post about that later.

Stitching news , the secret project was duly sent off , and put together with some other fab pieces and turned into the finished item .
 This is what I stitched
It has been added (with a lot of other gorgeous squares) to make an amazing king size bed quilt for a lovely couple who recently got engaged. I'm not going to name names as I don't have their permission, but they were very happy with their fantastic gift . Though I really did not enjoy stitching this as I had to make my own chart and I couldn't get the words to look right no matter what I tried , so I ended up leaving them off. I would still do it again as they deserve it so much.

I needed a break after this , so charged full on into a Disney princess square for LQ . They are so popular , we never have enough .

Then , I promised my Daughter that I would do one of hers , so a wolf popped up.
I will be doing more of these very soon.

Yesterday saw me put the last stitches into this little guy
Again , he took longer than expected , but while we were away the weather was kind to us , so we spent a lot of time out .

So , that's the stitchy catch up. Expect a lot of non-stitchy pics in the next post .

 Thanks for dropping by ,

Cath

OK , Who stole May ?

Wow . time really does fly , even when you're not having fun .
I guess I've got lots to catch up on . I have thought about posting on many occasions , but kept putting it off until tomorrow. Well , they do say tomorrow never comes , so here we are . I need one of those all elusive things , a round tuit . I will get many things done when I get a round tuit .

So. I will do a few catch up posts . First off ,the rest of April. Best go and have a look where I got up to ,lol .

Ok , so I was a very lucky lady and received a gorgeous knitted bunny from  Chris  . Her name is Rosa and she is just lovely . She sits on the back of the settee so she can keep an eye on my stitching ,lol.
Details of her lovely dress .
And look at those adorable shoes .
Thanks again Chris , I am still enchanted by her .

Stitching wise, I completed this cat for my Daughter
 And this Koala ,
Owls a/c square for Love Quilts.
My Daughter has recently got into Design a friend dolls , and has bought a few (helped by me and e-bay ,lol) This is her first one (from Argos) in a couple of outfits hand made by yours truly .

So that's all for April. Watch out for May and early June posts coming up, lol.

 Thanks for dropping by ,

A mixed bag

Well ,we are getting some very mixed weather at the moment. The other day we had hail/ice which covered everything .

Straight after this , the sun came out and there was glorious rainbow.

Today we have snow , not as much as last time , though it is still trying . The day is very grey. Had a very disappointed hubby and kids this morning when they realised there was not enough to stop them going to work and school .
I'm lucky to have my Christmas pressies to keep me warm . My lovely mittens .
 Hand knitted socks.
And snuggly scarf . This pic was taken in the last lot of snow .
Latest finish .
This is for my daughter and will be made into a cushion cover .

And these are the butterflies I have been working on for another charity group. They will be put together with other stitched squares and made into comfort pillows.
These are a few waiting for their bodies , I will do them all together.
I am planning a bit of a stitchy day today as I didn't get any done on Monday or Tuesday. Monday was busy tidying and clearing out and yesterday I was in school until lunch time listening to the kids read. It was kind of unplanned , I just offered to help sort out a problem which got solved anyway so then kind of got volunteered to do reading. I always said I wouldn't go into a class that one of my kids was in , but my sons' teacher is struggling to fit everything in and only has a couple of part time TA's she also has quite a few children that require extra attention.
First time went ok , so I will see how it goes.

Still snowing a little , and I am meant to be having an extra school run today as DD is supposed to be staying for Handball club , so we shall see.
 Take care everyone ,
 Cath

A couple of finishes .

 I'm on a roll here folks .
I finished up ABCD by La-D-Da yesterday. Very happy with how it turned out, this time ,lol. I originally started with a totally different colour ,and didn't like how it came out one little bit .
I think it is the wishy-washy pale green/grey that put me off, but it just wasn't working .
So , I pulled out some four stranded thread by 21st century yarns that I bought at Harrogate a few years ago , and it was much better . I just used one strand of thread as it is thicker than standard stranded cotton, but the coverage is quite good .

This is stitched on a random piece of even weave that was in a bargain pack from Readicut a few years ago. I think it is something weird like 26ct , but looks quite nice.
A better idea of the colours , though I have struggled to get a good picture with the horrible weather we are having at the moment.
  Ta- Daa!
My attempt at a panoramic shot ,lol .
So , all done and dusted and the chart will be zipping back up to the Mouse House next week .

Todays' finish requires a little explanation . In my Daughters' class at school , they have a "Star of the week" every week, which is decided on Fridays. My Daughter was chosen on the last day of term , so it continues until the first Friday back at school .
As "Star" she got to bring home Freddy the Fish. We were originally going to make him a Christmas Stocking , but time kind of disappeared and I am now pretty much done with Christmas ,so we decided to go with a sleeping bag instead.
My lovely girl decided after we had made the sleeping bag that she wanted his name on it, so I found out a bit of aida band and made it up as I went along . Then she decided that she wanted a picture of him on it too.

  The completed sleeping bag .
 Freddy
and his likeness, which I think is pretty good for the size of it .
 It fits !

LOL, My Daughter was very happy with it , so it was worth the afternoon and evening spent making it up.

As I said , I am pretty much done with Christmas. The tree is still up , but hopefully only until tomorrow .
My new wreath , made by MIL will stay up a little longer though .Very pretty .
And , I can't believe I forgot to show my new pretty . Though actually ,it's understandable in a way as it was put up out of the cats' way to try and keep it safe .
My new cup candle , with a pair of antique scissors attached. Not sure what the perfume is , but it smells gorgeous , and I love it . Still debating on whether or not to remove the scissors.
Well ,think that's about it for now . Stay safe everyone , the weather is being pretty horrible to lots of people at the moment .
 Take care ,
Cath

Happy New Year !

I remembered some more bits from last year (seems weird saying that ,lol.)
Anyway , I little finish for my boy. This only took a couple of hours ,if that. I plan to put it in a key ring for him .
I also stitched this up with the intention of making a notebook cover for my niece. I fluffed up on the final finishing though , so held it back. I will stitch it again and it will either be a just because gift or for her birthday , depending on when I do it .
Orts ! I don't join in with the Tusal posts , but do like a show of orts at the end of the year . The kids graffittid my tub , so need another one at some point ,lol.
 Out of the jar .
And a very special Christmas gift from a friend. Isn't this just gorgeous ? I love it so much and am going to display it on my shelf when i gets cleared of bumpf .
And these lovely hand made earrings. So precious ,and a totally unexpected gift . For the last couple of years I have run a Secret Santa for my hubby and his blogging buddies (they paint and play with little figures). This year , his Santa also sent me a gift for organising things , how sweet is that. And , they were made by Mrs Claus , very impressed. Hubbys' other Santa (two different rounds) also sent me a big tub of Fruit Pastilles ,lol .
A little bit of stash . Still waiting to hear about the rest of the threads I ordered. Must chase them up.
I was thrilled to find this at the weekend . Had to take the kids out to spend their Christmas money and came across this mag . I looked all over for it a couple of months ago and couldn't find it , so it came home with me .
As always, thanks for dropping by .
