"If you can count the number of projects you have going , you need to begin another, so you have a varied range of complexity from the very simple 'mind-less' ones to those that demand undivided attention." (Laura Early).

Jubilee beacons .

At around 7pm last night we had a knock on the door from a local community officer , letting us know that they were putting searchlights outside our house. They were planning on lighting them at 10pm , and they would be red , white and blue to commemorate the jubilee.
The kids had great fun watching them set up , but it wasn't so good when it came to bed time , as they go to bed at a reasonable time , and loads of other kids were hanging around shouting and screaming until gone 11pm .
I had said that I'd wake my two up when they switched the lights on , but to be honest it really wasn't worth it. It took almost the whole half hour they were on for them to warm up , and they didn't look as if they were different colours either .
I hope they showed up better from a distance . or it was a whole waste of money , time and effort.
They came to dismantle the lights and take them away at 11.50pm, so not a lot of sleep was had last night.

The idea of the lit beacons was good ,and I'm sure they looked very impressive , but I'm not too impressed with these.

We had a jubilee picnic party indoors on Sunday , and had some great fun apple bobbing and playing musical statues with the kids ,lol .

I'll be back soon with a small stitching update

Thanks for dropping by ,
 Cath

Oh I find it frustrating when the government decides to waste our money on things like that! We have this ridiculous art sculpture right off the side of one of our freeways in the city and I think it's just ridiculous! Here's the link if you want to take a peek. http://publicart.edmontonarts.ca/public_art_-_about_public_art/

Someone on the local radio said that the lighting of our local beacon was a damp squib too, waste of time and effort - they wished they had stayed home and watched the concert on TV!

Sounds like y'all had a good time. I think the picnic sounds much better than the lights.
