"If you can count the number of projects you have going , you need to begin another, so you have a varied range of complexity from the very simple 'mind-less' ones to those that demand undivided attention." (Laura Early).

Fund raising stitches.

A lot of you will know about Gaynors. fund raising efforts for the Irish Cancer Society , if not , please got to her blog and check it out .
Gaynor has designed several charts , which she is offering for a small donation towards her fund raising efforts. she is pretty busy though , and has a lot of other designs buzzing around her head, so asked for volunteers to stitch up some models.
I was lucky enough to be asked to stitch up Fight Like A Girl ,and here it is .
I chose the pink aida to stitch on , so the daisies would show up better .

I decided to make it into a bookmark, though it could also be a hanger as the backing fabric is pretty stiff .
It is backed with the fabric it is laying on .
I am really pleased with how it turned out , and have offered it to Gaynor towards her fundraising , so if you are interested in getting this , or even stitching it yourself, along with the other charts, go over to Gaynors blog and see for yourself . ~The charts is a pretty good size for a phone or ipod case too , so multi-purpose .
 Thanks for looking ,

Exchange Goodies

Lainey and I are doing a year long exchange ,and recently sent and received the first one.
This is what I received :

Lovely fabric , and a Lizzie Kate chart (one of my fave designers).Summery threads , and buttons. And a gorgeous seaside pillow and a little chicken to brighten my kitchen.I love this little pillow , especially the cute little star fish . thanks so much Lainey . Sorry it's taken me so long to show on here , every time I get ready to put it on , another post pops up ,lol.

There were also some lovely card swatches , that got put out of the reach of grubby little fingers , lol.

This is what I sent to Lainey :

I have nicked this picture from Lainey's blog , as when I was looking at my pictures I realised that one of the gifts somehow escaped the envelope . As it will go into the next one , I don't want to spoil the surprise .

Lainey likes sheep , and as we nick name sheep "Flossies", this LK sheep just asked to be made into a floss tag .I kind of themed this exchange with needles and thread, so made a needle book . The chart is a freebie from Samplings from the Berri Patch and is called Hannah's Flower Basket. It is part of a reproduction sampler called Hannah Mary Manley 1864 .

I left off the date ,and changed a couple of the colours to suit Lainey's likes , hope you don't mind Sherri . It was a lovely chart to stitch , and I'm sure I'll use it again , so a big Thank you to Sherri for a lovely design.

Thank you everyone for the lovely comments on Chicken Run . It is nice to stitch my own design , especially as so far it seems to be coming out as I'd hoped . I'm enjoying the fact that I'm stitching something no-one else has ever stitched before . I wonder if it's the same feeling for stitchers who do the models and first drafts for other people? I always like going out in fresh snow too . To know that you are treading where no-one else has trodden before. :-)

That's all for now . I will be back soon with updates of Chicken Run ,and more pictures of our days out .

Thanks for dropping by ,

Cath

Where,oh where have my fishies gone?

Where,oh where can they be?
I've taken them off , and I've put them back on,
But they're nowhere to be seen.
Actually , I had a scary moment whilst trying to sort them out, I lost the background. Luckily I sorted it out without too much trouble . Maybe blogger just doesn't like fish at the moment.
Firstly , I'd like to say a big Thank you. The main reason I started this blog was to show my stitching to other people who would appreciate it, so your comments really mean a lot to me. thanks everyone.
Secondly , to show that I have actually been stitching , some pictures of my "smalls". I wasn't able to concentrate on my big project , but still needed to do something , so started stitching little bits for Christmas . While I was doing a couple of patchwork trees , my kids were spying at the charts and picked a couple they liked , so I thought I'd do them and make them into little hanging pillows.
After digging the sewing machine out of its' hidey hole , this is what I did yesterday.
The fabric they are sitting on is what I used for backing. These two are by Lucie Heaton , we have a link to some free designs on the Stitch for Charity site. The Santa is for my son , and the Reindeer for my daughter. Then , I was on a roll , so decided to do some more freebies I'd found online

The thread colours on the pink fabric are the recommended ones from the chart , and I just changed them to suit. These are Barbara Ana designs www.freewebs.com/barbara-ana-designs/.

I was hoping they would put them on the tree (yes the tree is up- a bit too soon for me , but hey ho) but they wanted them in their bedrooms .

The next ones are freebies fromhttp://www.stitchykitty.com/

These , I have done for a friend ,who has been "there" for me this last couple of weeks , despite having worries of her own , so I just wanted to do something to say thank you. They aren't posted yet , but I know she will receive them before seeing this.

And here they are , all together :

So , the advent calendars have been broken into , and I still have not got one single thing for Christmas. I normally make all my cards , but haven't the heart at the moment , so I bought some this morning and will just make ones for family and close friends . That's a job hopefully for the weekend.

Tomorrow is my daughters' nativity play , so lots of trips to school as they work with nursery so perform twice , once with morning nursery children and once with afternooners , but I'm looking forward to it.

We had our first proper frost of the season today , and boy is it cold. I think I need to buy some thermals.

thanks for dropping by , CathXX
