Hare Hop

The lovely Gaynor at Stitchers' Anon  offered up a travelling pattern on her Face book group for fans of Holmsey Hare .
I couldn't wait to join in, I do like to do travelling patterns occasionally and this one was a joy to stitch .
I haven't done anything with it yet , but I'm thinking I will frame it in a nice dark wooden frame .
The hop is closed for new stitchers , but I think Gaynor will be adding it to her shop once everyone has completed it .

 Thanks for reading ,

A couple of finishes .

 I'm on a roll here folks .
I finished up ABCD by La-D-Da yesterday. Very happy with how it turned out, this time ,lol. I originally started with a totally different colour ,and didn't like how it came out one little bit .
I think it is the wishy-washy pale green/grey that put me off, but it just wasn't working .
So , I pulled out some four stranded thread by 21st century yarns that I bought at Harrogate a few years ago , and it was much better . I just used one strand of thread as it is thicker than standard stranded cotton, but the coverage is quite good .

This is stitched on a random piece of even weave that was in a bargain pack from Readicut a few years ago. I think it is something weird like 26ct , but looks quite nice.
A better idea of the colours , though I have struggled to get a good picture with the horrible weather we are having at the moment.
  Ta- Daa!
My attempt at a panoramic shot ,lol .
So , all done and dusted and the chart will be zipping back up to the Mouse House next week .

Todays' finish requires a little explanation . In my Daughters' class at school , they have a "Star of the week" every week, which is decided on Fridays. My Daughter was chosen on the last day of term , so it continues until the first Friday back at school .
As "Star" she got to bring home Freddy the Fish. We were originally going to make him a Christmas Stocking , but time kind of disappeared and I am now pretty much done with Christmas ,so we decided to go with a sleeping bag instead.
My lovely girl decided after we had made the sleeping bag that she wanted his name on it, so I found out a bit of aida band and made it up as I went along . Then she decided that she wanted a picture of him on it too.

  The completed sleeping bag .
 Freddy
and his likeness, which I think is pretty good for the size of it .
 It fits !

LOL, My Daughter was very happy with it , so it was worth the afternoon and evening spent making it up.

As I said , I am pretty much done with Christmas. The tree is still up , but hopefully only until tomorrow .
My new wreath , made by MIL will stay up a little longer though .Very pretty .
And , I can't believe I forgot to show my new pretty . Though actually ,it's understandable in a way as it was put up out of the cats' way to try and keep it safe .
My new cup candle , with a pair of antique scissors attached. Not sure what the perfume is , but it smells gorgeous , and I love it . Still debating on whether or not to remove the scissors.
Well ,think that's about it for now . Stay safe everyone , the weather is being pretty horrible to lots of people at the moment .
 Take care ,
Cath

I've had enough .

Of being ill .

Yep , I finally came down with the crud. Started last week with a dry throat which quickly turned to a raw throat , inflamed tonsils , swollen glands, croaky voice. Now back to a sore throat but with the added bonus of hacking cough , stuffed up nose , achy everything and not a lot of sleep .

Adding insult to injury , took the kids to school this morning and arrived home looking as if I'd jumped in a river for a quick splash . AND I'VE JUST REALISED THAT IT IS ONLY FIVE WEEKS UNTIL CHRISTMAS !!!!!!!
How the heck did that happen ?

So , all in all , feeling quite sorry for myself . Supposed to be having visitors this evening and I feel like crap and definitely do not feel like tidying up etc. Got absolutely nothing at all sorted for Christmas and couldn't feel much less like it if I tried at the moment . So , yup , definitely had enough.

Ok , moan over . Not done any stitching for the last week as felt too rotten , but prior to this I finished off my daughters' horse and batman logo for the boy , which he has decided need batman and robin adding to it.Thanks son x

I received a lovely belated birthday gift from my lovely friend Bernadett . Thanks again , I love it .
Also received a travelling pattern which I hope to crack on with fairly soon .
These are my two new charts. Just need to sort out threads for them .
And I started this for a LQUK square . Hoping to do more on this soon . I am loving it , but not felt like doing much of anything lately other than laying on the settee with a couple of blankets and a cat or two .
Thanks for dropping by .

Busy , busy

Hi everyone , I'm back.
Sorry I haven't been around much , but last week we had the chance of a much needed holiday , so we took it very gratefully.
A friend of my husband lives in Somerset , but was going away so offered us the use of their house .It was a lovely break for us all ,the kids got to go to the beach , and we had time to relax.

I also took some stitching and finished the new bird start I mentioned . I really like it, even if it is a bit...unusual .
This is "Emu" by Jill Oxton , from Jill Oxtons' Cross Stitch issue 35 .
 Started 8/7/12 , Finished 4/8/12 .

I have made a new start since getting back , it will be a gift for the friends who let us stay in their house, not much done on it yet so I will show a pic next time .

The travelling pattern is on its' way to Lindsay , so keep your eyes on her blog to see when it will be available again .

Thanks for dropping by ,

Done!

Well, I have finished the travelling pattern ,and I have to say that I loved every single stitch , it really is a lovely chart to stitch ,very relaxed and fun .
I used the recommended DMC threads and a piece of 28 ct fabric from my stash .
So ,the travelling pattern is now ready to set off again . If you are interested in being the nest person to stitch this chart , please leave a comment on this post only , I will announce who it will be in just over a week , with the holidays being upon us, I'll give people a chance to reply.

We have had some lovely weather this week , just hope it stays around for a while. Yesterday , whilst pegging washing out, I took advantage of the lovely sky and took some great cloud pics ,it didn't look real, but made the sky look so vast , it was almost breath taking .

I also took some photos of the chooks . I won't put all of them on here ,so here is one of all the girls together .

Thanks for dropping by , don't forget to leave a comment to be in with a chance of getting the travelling pattern.
 Take care ,

Travelling Pattern

I was lucky enough to be chosen to receive the travelling pattern by Lynn at Kearnels Korner .
It is Count Your Blessings by Shakespeare's Peddler , and I'm really looking forward to stitching it .
I've had a busy few days with end of school things, birthday parties and trips , but hopefully I'll be able to sort out fabric and threads in the next few days .
I love how everyone that has stitched it so far has written their details on the pattern , though there's not much room left ,lol .
Lynn also very generously sent me two Carries Creation threads , they are so pretty , I have not used any of these threads before , so something else to look forward to . Thanks again Lynn , I really appreciate it.
So , I hope to be back soon with more news .
 Thanks for dropping by ,
