"If you can count the number of projects you have going , you need to begin another, so you have a varied range of complexity from the very simple 'mind-less' ones to those that demand undivided attention." (Laura Early).

AWOL

Well, I disappeared there for a while.
Still been stitching and had the intention to blog , but didn't quite get around to it. So now I guess it's time for a major catch up , but don't worry I will try and split it up so you don't lose the will to live ,lol .

So , in August we took a family break to the East coast. Booked pretty last minute , and we took a risk in going for a caravan close to the sites' club. Yeah , it was a mistake. Very loud until very late.
Otherwise though , we had a great time . It rained solid all day Tuesday but the rest of the week was dry , occasionally overcast but not enough to cause us problems.

On Monday we went to Skegness Naturelands Seal Sanctuary . Lots of other animals as well as seals , but I took way too many photos to show them all here . Here are just a sampling of the pics.

Had a fabulous day .

Later in the week we visited Mablethorpe Seal Sanctuary. Again lots of animals and birds , but I have to say I was disappointed in the place . It wasn't very clean , but very full and it was very much a case of being an attraction rather than a sanctuary. I much preferred Skegness. Still ,a few pics from there too.

On the last day , we packed up the car and walked across the sea front to the town for a last look round , last ice cream , donuts and slushes ,lol. We were awe struck to see seals just off the beach . One of them was fishing and the kids got to see it enjoying its' catch . Got to be the highlight of the week .

That's all for now . I will schedule another couple of posts to catch up with stitching etc.

 Thanks for reading .

Outings (3)

Last Monday saw us returning to The Chestnut Centre . You can read about out previous visit here .

We arrived just at opening time , which turned to to not be such a good things as a lot of the otters were still inside their houses . We eventually got to see a few and then headed back to the open meadow for the "meet the deer" experience as last year we loved them . It was great to see Spirit and Apricot again and to catch up with little Peach who was being bottle fed last year after being found as a fawn with an injury to her side .

Spirit , Apricot and Peach have all been hand reared , so are very used to people and love to be fed redskin peanuts . The other deer are kept as wild as possible .
 So beautiful

 Some pics of the otters

This guy was making meatballs from his mince before eating it , so funny to watch .
 One of the polecats .
And the Owls

  My absolute favourite .

Twiglet was being held in front of these guys
They were not impressed . the chick (above) was squawking the whole time we were there.
There was no sign of the fox and the Scottish Wildcats were not still long enough for me to get any decent photos . A bit of a disappointing day really , lots of time not actually seeing anything, getting wet through in a down pour whilst waiting for the deer feeding and not many good photos. We will , I'm sure go back again but maybe leave it for a couple of years .

Stay tuned , more pics coming soon.

Thanks for dropping by ,

Outings (2)

So last Sunday we thought we would go to Bosworth and have a look round. It is about ten years since me and the Hubby went , and we thought the kids might be interested , especially the Boy .
hubby checked online for opening times etc and we found that it was the anniversary celebration weekend. The actual anniversary of the battle was on Friday 22nd .
They had a Living History camp and re-enactment with Battle set up . It cost around £50 for the four of us , but was a full day and we all enjoyed it .
They put me in the stocks as soon as we got there , cheeky lot ,lol.
My Daughter loves the horses .
Sadly we missed the Falconry display , but I still got to take a few pics of the gorgeous birds of prey.

The horses all dressed up for the jousting display.

 The Battle

 Two Kings
A great day out , and fortunately the rain held off until the end  .

Thanks for looking ,

Summer ? maybe .

We had a lovely few days towards the end of last week and over the weekend. Today has been a little grey and dull , but not too bad.
I have been doing a bit of stitching on the tiger , this is where I am now .
It is coming on nicely , I am hoping for a reasonably quick finish with this one. Not had chance to pick up Butterflies yet this week, even though the kids are back at school , I have been really busy .

We went out for a teatime picnic on Saturday, and went for a walk along the canal . Saw lots of lovely water birds .

Cute and fluffy ducklings, there were four of them but I couldn't get a good pic of them all together ,they were moving about too much.

 Lovely blossom on the way
I think this must be a favourite scratching spot for the sheep.
The kids thought it was great and gathered up some of the wool to bring home. I have washed it ,and it came up quite nice. shame there's not enough to do anything with though .

 Thanks for dropping by ,
